Blue Laws in MO

Does anyone know if the following is true?

Someone told me that Missouri used to have "blue laws" that prohibited various businesses opening on Sunday. A vestigial remnant of this is that car dealerships are closed on Sundays (by law?).

True/false? I'm pretty sure car dealerships are closed on Sunday but not sure of the motivation.

Interestingly, you can go to a casino on Sunday and by some Jack Daniels along with your groceries 24 x 7.

Yep. It's true, growing in Ballwin I remember the liquor section of Dierberg's being closed off on Sundays.

Blue laws began sometime around 1780 in Puritan Connecticut, and continue to this day - especially in the bible belt.

We are currently 1 of 10 states that still abide by the car dealer blue law.

We also have blue laws to thank for places like Walgreens. Drugstores were allowed to remain open on Sunday's for medical emergencies while other places of businesses had to close. Hence, drugstores started selling groceries and such to meet the demand.

I too, remember the liquor section being roped off in grocery stores not that long ago - some still are if you find yourself there between midnight Saturday and noon on Sunday.

In a display of cultural exchange: PEI has gov't owned "liquor stores" which is the only access (aside from bars and "bootleggers") to buy booze, even beer.

Also cans were prohibited for a long time though that has changed very recently I believe.
