Question for St Louis

hey folks,

I'm looking for a shop for herbal nutrition and/or alternative medicine. Not the big chains with vitamins but something more off the mainstream.

Any ideas?

I vaguely remember one on Big Bend in Webster Groves but I have no idea if it is still open.

peace
CC

ps. In a related update, my buddy Vic will soon be visiting from PEI ! Should be a great weekend...

Oh Captain, my captain - where have you been? I miss you! :-(
I believe you are referring to The Natural Way - there are three locations - one in Creve Coeur (off Olive near Ross - strip mall on the right) but the one in Webster is bigger and has a better 'supplement department' and a small bulk food section too! Oh- and it has a nice wood screen door that slams shut behind you like at summer camp :-)

Let's lunch soon!

Whoops - I misread your post - I thought you were looking for supplements - they do have all that but also every 'natural medicine' you could imagine as well as food items and organic produce- you pay a bit more than at the 'big chains' but it's so nice to shop without bumping into people every two feet - and if you want something they don't have - they'll usually order it for you.

I'm worried by the term "alternative medicines". Generally, this is used to refer to things that have never been actually shown to work under controlled experiments. Sure, there's tons of anecdotal evidence, but like they say, "treat a cold and it lasts seven days, leave it untreated and it will hang on for a week."

the natural way in webster.
the golden grocer in the cwe.
and there is an obscure little place that i'm pretty sure is called river city on kirkwood.

depending what you're looking for...

You might try Golden Grocer Natural Foods on Euclid in the CWE (my old neck of the woods). If I remember correctly, they have a wide assortment of natural pills and potions as well as food.

A big thanks to everyone! It means a lot that I give a shout-out and receive such substantive stuff, and so quickly

ps. I was thinking of The Natural Way but will call all of these to look for the desired hooch.

pps. I over-use the word 'hooch' but no one seems to mind. I heard Colonel Potter say it on Mash years ago and it stuck.

I'm a little slow on the update, but I highly recommend the Natural Way. Or if you feel like a road trip, The Green Earth in Edwardsville.

A good friend, that I've known since I was 8, owns the Green Earth. Her mom owns Natural Way. They are good people and really know their stuff.
